Description
We are in search for a FT live-in assistant/caregiver for an older couple where the wife has Parkinson’s disease. We are looking for mid level personal assistants, housekeepers or caregivers with a minimum of 3-years of basic private housekeeping or caregiving experience who are looking for a long-term position. The position includes a vehicle for work related use as well as a separate 500 sq. ft. furnished studio apartment with all utilities provided next door to the couple’s 4500 sq. ft. home which is located just outside of New Orleans.
Hours are M-F 9am-5pm and start date is ASAP
Candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated (or willing to get vaccinated) with an excellent driving record
Key responsibilities include:
- Light housekeeping
- Meal prep and cooking for the couple
- Light/moderate organizing and upkeep in all areas of the home
- The couple’s laundry
- Grocery and household supply shopping
- Run errands as needed
- Available 24/7 for emergencies
- Driving the couple to appointments as needed
- Other projects and duties as assigned
The right person for this position will be a natural caregiver who is kind, dependable and takes pride in her work. The couple wants someone who will become like a family member over time and who can transition into a caregiver and helper for the Mrs. with Parkinson’s disease.
Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds and are ideally energetic and fit. The couple’s grown children live nearby and will manage their home projects, maintenance, and other major personal or household needs so the candidate will always have their help and support as needed. This role is simply to help the couple in their every day needs and the couple’s grown children will take care of everything else, including hiring the right person to care for their parents.
