Not Sure What Role You Need?
Private household titles are not used uniformly. Deb’s Domestic Agency helps clients define a role by its actual scope, authority, residential complexity, reporting relationships and schedule—not title alone.
Household Manager or Estate Manager?
Household Manager: Leads the day-to-day operation of one principal residence or a relatively limited residential scope. Typical responsibilities include service standards, staff scheduling, vendor coordination, household administration and the smooth daily rhythm of the home.
Estate Manager: Carries broader operational authority across a substantial estate or multiple residences. The role may include significant budgets, capital projects, property systems, maintenance and security coordination, vendor leadership, senior staff oversight, family-office interaction and direct Principal trust.
The roles can overlap, but an Estate Manager is not simply a more senior title. The appropriate level depends on the authority, scale and complexity the position must carry.
