Description

We are working with a newly single father in Media, PA with a 6-year old girl and a sweet Golden Retriever. This family is in need of a wonderful, long-term Family Assistant (FA) to start in the summer of 2024. The father will have shared 50/50 custody with his ex-wife and have his daughter every other week; but the FA will still be working full-time exclusively for the father.

The FA’s work schedule for the weeks the father has his daughter is Monday-Thursday 7am-6:30pm and Fridays 7am-5pm with the flexibility to work later as needed. The FA will need to be available to work a 55-hour + week, every other week when he has his daughter and will be able to work very flexible part-time hours when he doesn’t. The total hours at the end of each month will be equal to a FT position.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Childcare (cooking, driving, scheduling)
  • Pet care (driving to vet, walking, feeding)
  • Running errands
  • Shopping (household, groceries, online)
  • Managing supplies (restocking, purchasing)
  • Assist the father as needed
  • Light housekeeping (dishes, keeping house tidy)
  • Cooking dinner for family
  • Available for overnight house and pet sitting on occasion
  • Family laundry (cleaning, ironing, picking up from cleaners)

The ideal FA candidate is mature, well organized and doesn’t need to be told what to do. She should know how to take initiative, plan ahead and run a smooth household. This position does require cooking so we are looking for candidates who feel confident in the kitchen and enjoy making healthy meals for the family.

Ideal FA qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (ideal but not required)
  • Previous executive or personal assistant experience is a plus (not required)
  • Family office experience is a plus (not required)
  • Computer savvy and experience with researching and purchasing
  • Superb calendar, travel, and administrative management skills
  • Household management skills
  • Long-term tenure with former employers

One of the most important qualities in the FA is that they have a great attitude with a strong work ethic and not have to be told what to do. Part of the job description is being proactive and anticipating the needs of the family over time. The FA needs to be able to respond professionally to both positive and potentially negative feedback while keeping open and honest communication.

Must-have FA qualifications:

  • Love children and dogs
  • Positive and joyful attitude and demeanor
  • Organized
  • Great communicator
  • Must always act with discretion, tact and composure
  • CPR Certification (or willingness to become certified)
  • Excellent driving record
  • 3+ years of professional childcare experience
  • 1+ years of experience as a PA, housekeeper or cook

We are recruiting local candidates as well as those who are willing to relocate long-term to Pennsylvania. Temporary housing can be provided to out-of-state candidates for up to 3-months, but the family prefers live-out candidates.
