Description
Virginia-based family of seven is seeking a dedicated Domestic Couple to oversee the full-time care of their 6,000 sq. ft. estate. This long-term opportunity is ideal for a professional couple with a minimum of 3 years of private service experience working together in a similar capacity. One partner will serve as the Property Caretaker/Handyman and the other as an Executive Housekeeper/Laundress, working in tandem to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and presentation of both the home and its grounds.
We’re looking for a grounded, reliable couple who genuinely appreciates small-town charm and are excited about building roots in the area.
In addition to full estate upkeep, this position includes the care of one large dog and two cats. While the housekeeping and property care are the primary focus, occasional assistance with the children may be appreciated. Candidates must be comfortable around pets and children, and confident working both independently and as part of a larger household team.
The family is also offering the Domestic Couple the option of housing in a private off-site farmhouse, located about 15 minutes from the main estate. This 2,000 sq. ft. home includes 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, providing a comfortable living space for those who would like housing as part of the arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
Housekeeping & Household Management
- Full housekeeping and upkeep of a large estate with high-end furnishings, fine materials, and specialty surfaces
- Daily and deep cleaning using eco-friendly, non-toxic products
- Care and maintenance of surfaces including stone, marble, quartz, stainless steel, and hardwood flooring
- Mirror and glass care; feather dusting and polishing of fine furniture
- Organization and cleanliness of closets, pantries, garages, and shared spaces
- Cleaning and sanitizing of home
- Preparing the home for guest arrivals, special events, and holidays
- Laundry management: fine garments and linens, washing, ironing, steaming, folding, and dry cleaning
- Occasional light cooking or meal prep for the family
- Packing and unpacking for family travel
Property & Grounds Care
- Routine property and grounds maintenance, including general handyman tasks and seasonal upkeep
- Outdoor hard surface cleaning: patios, exterior stone/tile, polished cement, etc.
- Oversight of HVAC, security systems, and basic troubleshooting of appliances
- Maintaining tools, supplies, and basic household systems
- Liaising with vendors or service providers when necessary
Pet & Family Support
- Daily pet care for one dog and two cats: feeding, walking, light grooming, and companionship
- Occasional support with children, including supervision or assistance during busy periods
- Running errands as needed
- Driving children or family members
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Domestic Couple or in private service
- Deep knowledge of high-end household care, textiles, and specialty surfaces
- Proven ability to work efficiently, independently, and with discretion
- Flexible, proactive, and highly organized
- Strong, verifiable references
