Michigan based HNW couple is in search for a long-term, live-out Domestic Couple. The Domestic Couple should be a formally trained Chef and experienced Executive Housekeeper willing to relocate long-term to Grand Rapids.

The ideal Domestic Couple will have a minimum of 5+ years of experience working together (or separately) in a formal or semi-formal household. This is a year-round position that requires the couple’s full commitment. Start date is ASAP. The Domestic Couple should be available, even if not needed, to work Mondays-Saturdays, weekends and holidays.

SCHEDULES-

For the Executive Housekeeper, she will be on a rotating schedule with 2 other housekeepers. She can choose a shift of 8am-4:30pm or 1pm-9pm.

The Chef’s hours when the Principals are not traveling is 7am-7pm consisting of lunch and dinner most days and a buffet brunch and dinner on Sundays for 2 (or more, if guests are expected) people. Some weeks only dinner will be needed Monday-Thursday; then lunch and dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday. When the Principals travel, which is about 30% of the year, the Chef will switch to a Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm schedule that does not have to be at the residence. During this time, work may involve planning menus, sourcing, provisioning, testing recipes or taking vacation time.

We are looking for a Domestic Couple who are physically and mentally able excel in these schedules. The couple should have experience in private service and understand how to work while being discrete and giving the Principals as much privacy as possible. They should be pleasant to be around and work well as a team with the other staff.

Other duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Working as a team with other household staff
  • All household cleaning (daily, deep, seasonal etc.)
  • Cooking healthy fresh and “to-go” meals
  • Driving, running errands as needed
  • Wardrobe and closet organization with proper care of fine linens
  • Organize closets, storage spaces, home office
  • Knowledgeable in flower arranging, formal table setting and service
  • Grocery shopping
  • Managing supplies (restocking, purchasing etc.)
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Ideal candidates will learn how to take initiative, use their time wisely and learn the Principal’s likes and dislikes over time. The Couple should have great communication and time management skills to make sure everyone is always on the same page.
