Salary Guidelines

The following are some general salary guidelines for household employees. A household employee’s salary is based on experience, location and the duties included in the job description. These salaries are the national average and they are listed as gross salaries before payroll taxes are deducted.

Butlers: Butlers generally earn a salary between $50,000 and $80,000 annually, plus benefits.
Caretakers: Salaries for Caretakers vary greatly based on the Caretaker’s duties, experience and educational degrees. An RN Caretaker’s annual salary can range from $60,000 to $100,000, plus benefits. A Caretaker with no nursing degree can earn an annual salary of $35,000 to $55,000 with benefits, or between $15 to $25 an hour for part-time care.
Chefs: Personal Chefs on average earn between $30 and $50 per hour, plus benefits. 
Couples: Couples’ salaries range greatly from $65,000 to $250,000 annually, plus  living quarters and benefits for the couple.
Executive Assistants: Executive Assistants generally earn a salary between $50,000 and $100,000 annually, plus benefits.
Executive Housekeepers: Executive Housekeepers aka Head Housekeepers earn a salary between $50,000 and $85,000 annually, plus benefits.
Estate Managers: Estate Managers generally earn a salary between $65,000 and $150,000 annually with housing and benefits.
Family Assistants: Full-time Family Assistants usually earn between $35,000 and $50,000 a year, plus benefits. Part-time FA’s earn between $17 and $25 per hour.
Governesses: Full-time Governesses on average earn an annual salary between $55,000 and $80,000, plus benefits. Part-time Governess salaries range from $20 to $35 per hour.
Home Security Managers: Home Security Managers generally earn an annual salary between $45,000 and $60,000, plus benefits.
Household Managers: Household Managers typically earn an annual salary between $45,000 and $80,000, plus benefits.
Housekeepers: Housekeepers on average earn salaries between $20 and $25 per hour. 
Housemen: Full-time Housemen usually earn a salary between $35,000 and $55,000 annually, plus benefits. Part-time salaries range from $15 to $25 per hour.
Nannies: Full-time Nannies generally earn $30,000 to $45,000 annually, plus benefits. Part-time Nannies generally earn between $15 and $25 per hour, plus bonuses.
Newborn Specialists: Newborn Specialists typically earn $20 to $25 an hour for each newborn.
Personal Assistants: Full-time salaried Personal Assistants typically earn between $55,000 to $100,000 annually, plus benefits. Part-time and hourly Personal Assistants typically are paid $30 to $45 per hour.
Property Caretakers: Property Caretakers typically earn between $40,000 to $80,000 a year, plus housing and benefits.
