Most of our housekeepers are looking for permanent positions. We are able to customize each client and applicant job agreement to ensure that there is 100% communication. Our staff members can arrange for an English and Spanish version if needed.
The Deborah Calkin Agency has put together a 3-level plan for those who need a better idea of what a typical housekeeper’s duties are and their hourly pay. This is mainly for those who do not need to hire a permanent housekeeper, because we use a slightly different method in determining salary based on certain factors.
Non-permanent housekeepers
-
Basic Housekeeping
All floors in all rooms (sweep, mop, vacuum, etc…)
All bathrooms
Entire kitchen, except dishes
-
Moderate Housekeeping
All of basic housekeeping
Making all beds
Doing all dishes
Dusting and polishing
- Extreme Housekeeping
All of moderate housekeeping
Family’s Laundry
Ironing
Permanent housekeeper positions
We offer Live-In, Live Out, full time, and part time. You can hire someone twice a month, or every day. For full time employees, here are some additional duties sometimes offered by housekeepers:
- Babysitting
- Running errands
- Grocery shopping
- Meal preparation
- Pet care
Average Salary
Our housekeepers make between $15-$25 per hour based upon the duties required, benefits, experience, and other factors.
Typical Hours
Most housekeepers work while the family is off to work and school. The typical Live Out hours are about 5-15 hours a week or every other week; whereas a Live In housekeeper usually works about 6-12 hours every day, has more flexibility, duties, and is provided with separate living quarters and a salary.
Laundresses
A laundress is there to take care of and maintain your households clothing, delicates, and linens. Our laundresses are knowledgeable in the caring, handling, and storing of fine fabrics. For those who don’t have the finer linens that need a lot of special care, a laundress can simply come to your home when you don’t have time to do your laundry and ironing.
Laundress’s main responsibilities:
- Washing and steaming
- Ironing
- Folding and hanging
- Mending
- Taking certain items to dry cleaners
- Picking up items at dry cleaners
- Straightening up/organizing laundry room
Average Salary
The laundresses at the Deborah Calkin Agency can make $12-$25 per hour depending upon the duties required, experience, and location.
Typical Hours
Most laundresses arrive in the morning when the family is about to leave for work. After receiving instructions, the laundress will be there according to how much laundry needs to get done. There must be good communication between both parties in advance to make sure the laundress knows approximately how long she will need to be there.
